What a curator actually does for twelve days
A fair question, and one we should answer in plain terms rather than with adjectives.
Before you fly: the route, argued over. Which two nights get the extraordinary room and which do not. Drive times in hours rather than kilometres. The naturalist requested by name, months out. The permissions, where photography or access needs them. The restaurant that does not take bookings, which somebody has to know somebody at.
While you are here: a driver who stays with you rather than a car that is re-hired each morning. Guides chosen individually for each city rather than supplied by rota. Somebody reachable who is awake in your timezone when your flight is delayed at eleven at night.
And the part nobody lists: the day it goes wrong. A road closed, a strike, a cancelled flight, somebody ill. That is the day you are paying for, and it is the only part of the job that cannot be done from a website.
Everything else on this list is knowable. Most of it is on this forum for free, and we would rather you used it. The judgement about your particular fourteen days, and somebody standing behind it, is the thing you cannot assemble yourself.
