The second trip is the one people plan well

A pattern worth naming, because it costs first-timers a lot.

The first trip is planned against a fear of missing out. It is wide, it moves constantly, and almost everything on it is somewhere the planner had already heard of before they started reading.

The second trip is planned against a memory. It is narrower, slower, and it usually goes back to one region properly rather than adding three new ones. People come back for Rajasthan alone, or the south alone, or one park for four nights instead of two.

Nobody needs convincing of this after they have done it once. The whole argument is about whether you can borrow the lesson before paying for it.

You can, mostly. Take whatever itinerary you are holding and delete a third of it. Put the nights back into the two places you are most curious about. You will have built, roughly, your own second trip.
