The e-visa is easy. The photograph is what gets rejected.

Entry rules move, so this room points at the current official guidance rather than keeping a second copy that drifts out of date. But the failure mode has been the same for years and it is worth saying.

Applications are rarely refused on eligibility. They get bounced on the upload: a photograph that is not square, a face that is not centred, a background that is not plain white, a scan of the passport page where a corner is cut off or the glare has taken out a line of the machine-readable strip.

So: square photo, plain white wall, no glasses, no shadow behind the head, face filling most of the frame. Scan the passport flat, in daylight, with all four corners visible.

Apply a few weeks ahead rather than a few days. Most approvals come back quickly, but the one that needs resubmitting is the one you want time for.

And print it. The approval is checked on arrival and a dead phone battery at immigration is a bad place to discover that.
